Managing Products 📦

Products are the foundation of your business! The Products section in the Inventory module helps you create, organize, and manage your product catalog. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know.

Products Overview

Navigate to Inventory → Products to access:

  • Categories: Organize products into categories
  • All Products: View and manage all products
  • Product Units: Manage units of measurement (UoM)
  • Bulk Operations: Create or edit multiple products at once

Adding Products

To add a new product:

  1. Go to Inventory → Products → All Products
  2. Click "Add Product" or use the quick action button
  3. Fill in the product information:
    • Product Name: What you're selling
    • SKU: Stock Keeping Unit - unique identifier
    • Barcode: Product barcode (can be auto-generated)
    • Category: Select or create a category
    • Price: Selling price
    • Cost: Cost price (for profit calculations)
    • Unit of Measurement: e.g., pieces, kg, liters
    • Initial Stock: Starting inventory quantity
    • Description: Product details
    • Images: Product photos
  4. Click "Save"

💡 Tip

Quick Tip: Start with the essentials (name, SKU, price, stock) and add details like images and descriptions later. You can always edit products!

Product Categories

Organize your products into categories for easier management:

Creating Categories

  1. Go to Inventory → Products → Categories
  2. Click "Add Category"
  3. Enter category name (e.g., "Electronics", "Clothing", "Food & Beverages")
  4. Optionally add a description
  5. Save the category

Categories help you:

  • Organize products logically
  • Filter products quickly
  • Generate category-specific reports
  • Apply category-level settings

Product Units (UoM)

Set up units of measurement for your products:

  • Pieces: For items sold individually
  • Weight: kg, g, lbs, oz
  • Volume: liters, ml, gallons
  • Length: meters, feet, yards
  • Custom Units: Create your own units

Barcodes

Generate and manage barcodes for your products:

  • Auto-generate barcodes for products
  • Print barcode labels
  • Scan barcodes during checkout
  • Manage barcode formats

Bulk Operations

Bulk Create

Add multiple products at once:

  1. Go to Inventory → Bulk Operations → Bulk Create
  2. Download the template (CSV or Excel format)
  3. Fill in product information in the template
  4. Upload the file
  5. Review the preview
  6. Confirm the import

Bulk Edit

Edit multiple products simultaneously:

  • Select multiple products
  • Apply changes to all selected products
  • Update prices, categories, or other fields
  • Save changes in bulk

Pro Tip: Bulk operations are perfect when you have many products to add or need to update prices across multiple items. They save you tons of time!

Editing Products

To edit an existing product:

  1. Go to All Products
  2. Find the product (use search or filters)
  3. Click on the product or click "Edit"
  4. Make your changes
  5. Click "Save"

Product Images

Add images to your products:

  • Upload images directly from your computer
  • Add multiple images per product
  • Set a primary image (shown first)
  • Recommended size: 800x800px or larger
  • Supported formats: JPG, PNG, WebP

Pricing

Set up flexible pricing:

  • Regular Price: Standard selling price
  • Sale Price: Discounted price (optional)
  • Cost Price: What you paid (for profit tracking)
  • Customer Group Pricing: Different prices for different customer groups

Best Practices

  • Consistent SKUs: Use a consistent SKU format (e.g., CAT-001, CAT-002)
  • Complete Information: Fill in as much product information as possible
  • Use Categories: Organize products into categories for easier management
  • Barcode Everything: Generate barcodes for faster checkout
  • Regular Updates: Keep product information and prices up-to-date
